But is it really mysterious or all those strange activities that voice teachers seem to make their students actually help them sing better?  So what does this mean for the aspiring singer?

If you feel something is silly or strange …. ask questions! Every exercise has a purpose? Exercises aren’t there to make you suffer? They’re there to teach you how to deal issues that you will find in different songs. A good voice teacher will explain how an exercise works before s/he has you do it. It is very important that you understand how an exercise works and how it will work for songs – for how will you will be able to reproduce it without your teacher being there. And if exercises are explained and taught properly, you will begin to see the patterns in different songs that you are working on. And you will suddenly preventing errrors in songs before lessons — you will be on your way to be an indpendent singer. But seriously, a real voice lesson won’t be like the one Lucy had! lol

Do you need practice exercises outside of lessons? Yes – (and yes, voice teachers know when you haven’t practiced them hehe) If you don’t practice them – your development will take a lot longer. But what did you say? I don’t play an instrument – how can I practice them? Well, do to modern technology – you can! YOUTUBE! Here’s a few you can use.
