Did you ever notice that you feel better after singing along to the radio. If you’re driving, suddenly the crazy driver next to you doesn’t bother you? It’s because singing heals you from the inside.

I was recently talking to doctor who told me that as a voice teacher I am helping creating healthy people.

This is what he told me …. Who knew?

Singers generally have a more youthful appearance because as we sing we use muscles in our face, throat, neck, and jaw which exercise the muscles which in turn tones the muscles. So it’s like a mini-face lift for our face.

Singers generally don’t snore as bad much as none-singers. When we sing, we improve the muscle tone in our larynx which helps calm snoring – who knew? So it improves our sleeping so we generally feel better.

Another strange fact, singing stimulates the thyroid gland…. the thyroid gland maintains your weight.

He also, said that singers generally have stronger back and abdominal muscles which prevent back injuries. It is because we use those muscles to control our airflow.

Then he told me something that was even stranger, many singers score higher on test scores. It is because when we sing breath deeply which increase our air flow to our brain which helps us to think clearer so we can

But the most valuable part of singing he said was the fact that we give our insides a massage when we sing which promotes detoxification at a ‘sub-atomic’ level. Our bodies vibrate while singing which shakes, vibrates and resonates our bodies to the very core.

So can we afford not to sing? I think not!

Off to practice 🙂
