Performance Technique has been on my mind a lot lately as my students are prepping for festival. Here’s some tips I’ve been sharing with them …

1. There’s no such thing as a perfect performance, so stop stressing about the possible mistakes that might happened and instead focus on the story you’re sharing

2. Connect with the music you’re sharing. Singers have it easier because they have words to share but instrumentalists can do this too. Come up with a story or does the piece bring back a memory? If I’m just playing – I let the music become the score of the music I’m sharing.

3. Nervous? We all are! So use it for your advantage … Become aware of what you are doing and how you’re doing it!

If you are interested in more tips and see how we study at Pardalis Music Studio – be sure to watch us live in rehearsal on Meerkrat this Saturday at 11am.

If you know anyone who might benefit from this blog please share 🙂
