I’ll never forget my taste with email marketing (with dial up no less) when I worked at Castel Marketing back in the early 2000’s. One of our clients was a timeshare and many people wanted something they could get give to their spouse to look at before making a decision about timeshares. It could quite fun trying to email them but it gave me the first taste of the power of word via the internet.
Why does email marketing work ….
- Not everyone likes social media but almost everyone has an email either for work or Netflix ….. take advantage of it.
- In marketing classes, I learnt that people actually only see about 10% of ads that they look at ….. so maybe they saw your ad on FB or Twitter but they didn’t actually look at it, they may have not even noticed that they looked at it. By sending them an email, it’s something tangible that they can look at and make a decision about. I don’t know how many times I ended up by tickets to a concert because I received an email about it.
- It’s a way to connect with people on a more personal way …. So many times, I’ll send out an email and people answer me. So I am able to answer back and connect with them in a real way that I wouldn’t have been able to. It’s built real relationship with real people.
So don’t have an email list?
Start collect emails at your shows. I was a music workshop last year where one of the speakers told us how his band would walk around after a show and just talk and connect with guests. After the connection, they would ask for emails. It worked like a charm (that and the band member with the least emails lol had to buy the band’s drinks for the night).
Have a sign up on your website asking people to sign up for your mailer and use your social media to encourage people to sign up too.
Slowly by slowly your email list will grow and in turn your fan base will grow …..
Any questions or know someone who would benefit from this …. Please share
